Spam Protect
Basic Spam Protect is available on all tiers.
Spam created by users and bots is a huge problem, and can easily overwhelm a group, even with a good team of moderators.
Spam Protect aims to assist moderators to clean up spam messages. CrowdNinja has a built in database of known spam and will automatically warn or ban users as necessary.
Basic protection is still powerful! Every new message, and every edit of a message will be scanned for spam content. When spam is detected, CrowdNinja will assess the severity and take action.
For mild spam, every message detected will be automatically deleted. The first message incurs no penalty. If spam continues for a second message, the user is warned. Upon a third spam message, the user is banned and kicked from the group.
For severe spam, the user will be banned and kicked upon the first message.
Aggressive takes things further; when a group is large, or is hosting giveaways, it can drive a lot of new users and bot accounts. Simple greetings and messages can quickly disrupt the flow of conversation.
When aggressive is enabled, messages such as 'hi', 'gm', 'thanks', 'good project' will simply be automatically deleted. There is no penalty to the user who sent the message.
Start a new settings session
Navigate to Spam Protect settings: Chat Management > Spam Protect
Tap 'Basic' or 'Aggressive'
It is possible to turn off Spam Protect, instead tap 'Disabled'
Aggressive is only available on paid for tiers.
Not all spam messages can be detected, the content can change in mulitple ways to achieve this.
The ability to report spam to assist growing the known spam database is coming soon.
